Another revolutionary step towards innovation in governance in health sector of GB. Revamping Health Sector: Govt. of Gilgit-Baltistan and Shifa International Hospital formally signed an agreement today at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad to hire the services of specialist doctors for Gilgit-Baltistan. The agreement reached after numerous consultative meetings and other formalities of bidding process in order to ensure transparency and trust. The agreement has been signed between GILGIT-BALTISTAN RURAL SUPPORT PROGRAMME (GBRSP)/DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (DOH), GILGIT-BALTISTAN AND M/S SHIFA FOUNDATION, ISLAMABAD, SHIFA INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALS LIMITED ISLAMABAD, and eShifa (SIHT PRIVATE LIMITED), ISLAMABAD.

The Gilgit Baltistan Rural Support Programme (GBRSP) invites sealed proposals from all Scheduled and Microfinance Banks, including KCBL, that possess a minimum credit rating of “A” by a recognized Rating Agency, for the investment of Endowment Funds amounting to Rs. 675 million in the form of Term Deposit Receipts (TDRs). Interested banks may download terms & conditions from GBRSP’s website (www.gbrsp.org.pk) and accordingly submit their proposals to the below mentioned address on or before October 05, 2026 before 11:00 AM. Late submissions will not be entertained. The proposals will be opened on the same day at 11:30 AM in the presence of bidders. GBRSP reserves the right to accept or reject any or all quotations as per Rule 33 of the PPRA Rules.

GBRSP invites sealed proposals from eligible and experienced media houses/media agencies for implementation of a three-month media engagement for Child Protection in Gilgit-Baltistan campaign under its UNICEF-funded Child Protection Project.
As per the agreement the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is hiring the services of 66 consultant doctors of various specialties as per the need identified by Health Department GB. This significant agreement signing ceremony was being attended by Deputy Speaker GBLA, Advocate Nazir Ahmad, Finance Minister GB, Mr. Javed Manwa, and women parliamentarians of Gilgit-Baltistan. Before the signing ceremony detailed deliberations were made between the parties to make the agreement successful and building long lasting mutual trust. During the discussion it has been decided that apart from rotation of specialist doctors in Gilgit-Baltistan, special attention would also be given to impart trainings for paramedics, biomedical technicians, nursing staff, house keeping etc. of Gilgit-Baltistan. The Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Mr. Muhyuddin Wani assured the senior management of Shifa International Hospital that direct monitoring would be made by himself to make this partnership a success one and to ensure that best medical services be provided to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan at their door steps. The agreement has initially been made for one year extendable further for another year. The agreement provides high incentives to the specialist doctors so that they may go to those distant areas where currently even the services of medical officers are not available let alone the services of specialist doctors. The political leadership of Gilgit-Baltistan present at the signing ceremony hoped that this connectivity over the period of time will grow stronger wherein the Govt of Gilgit-Baltistan would also think to avail the best facilities of Shifa International Hospital like Tele-ICU, Tele-Radiology, Tele-Pathology etc. This milestone agreement will augment the health sector of Gilgit-Baltistan in providing the best medical facilities to the poor people of remote areas as owing to lack of specialist doctors people had to travel to bigger cities to avail the services of specialist doctors for minor medical problems.
